Vase On Black Cloth

acrylic 40 x50 cm

"For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from Heaven, and
returneth not thither, but watereth the earth,
and maketh it bring forth and bud,
that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater;
So shall My word be that goeth forth out of My mouth;
it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please,
and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it."
Isaiah 55: 10-11

Afternoon in Amalfi

I went to see the film "Woman in Gold"
starring Helen Mirren
an excellent film....re the story behind of one of  Gustave Klimt's portrait's
stolen from a Jewish family.
Set mostly in Vienna,  a beautiful city....
and to remember the tragic persecution of the Jewish people.

This my painting of lovely Amalfi...Italy. The town square,
magnificent church, and lovely hills
in the background.

"And I will punish the world for their evil,
and the wicked for their iniquity;
and I will cause the arrogancy of the proud to cease,
and will lay low the haughtiness of the terrible."
Isaiah 13:11

The return of the Lord?

I thought I would post up some old pictures I did when I used to teach CRE.....

It recently occurred to me that the:
The Birth of Jesus Christ.........a star appeared to the wise men to guide them to the Messiah.
The Death of Jesus Christ........there was an eclipse and it was dark for three hours.
The Return of Jesus Christ ?......are two blood moons in recent times as well as an eclipse in April
2015 and another blood moon due in September 2015 major signs?

"As you do not know what is the way  of
the wind,
Or how the bones grow in the womb of
her who is with child,
So you do not know the works of God
who makes everything."

Harold Alone
by
Lord Byron

I have not loved the world, nor the world me;
I have not flattered its rank breath, nor bow'd
To its idolatries a patient knee, -
Nor coin'd my cheek to smiles, - nor cried aloud
In worship of an echo; in the crowd
They could not deem me one of such; I stood
Among them, but not of them; in a shroud
Of thoughts which were not their thoughts, and
still could,
Had I not filled my mind, which thus itself subdued.

I have not loved the world, nor the world me, -
But let us part fair foes; I do believe,
Though I have found them not, that there may be
Words which are things, - hopes which will not deceive,
And virtues which are merciful, nor weave
Snares for the failing: I would also deem
O'er others' griefs that some sincerely grieve;
That two, or one, are almost what they seem, -
That goodness is no name, and happiness no dream.

"If the world hate you, ye know
that it hated me before it hated you."
John 15:18

Protea

"The Lord preserveth the simple;
I was brought low and He helped me.
Return unto thy rest, O my soul;
for the Lord hath dealt bountifully with thee.
For thou hast delivered my soul from death,
mine eyes from tears, and my feet from falling."
Psalm 116 6-8

Arranging the Flowers

"The Lord upholds all who fall,
And raises up all those who are bowed down.
The eyes of all look
expectantly to You,
And You give them their food in due season.
You open Your hand
And satisfy the desire of every living thing."
Psalm 145: 14-16

View from the Pre-Vue

"Trust ye not in a friend, put ye
not confidence in a guide: keep the
doors of thy mouth from her that lieth
in thy bosom.
For the son dishonoureth the father,
the daughter riseth up against her
mother, the daughter-in-law against
her mother-in-law; a man's enemies
are the men of his own house.
Therefore I will look unto the
Lord; I will wait for the God of my
salvation: my God will hear me."
Micah 7:5-7

"And the Lord God commanded the man,
saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat;
But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil,
thou shalt not eat of it : for in the day that thou eatest
thereof thou shalt surely die."
Genesis 2 16-17

"My dove, my undefiled is but one;
she is the only one of her mother,
she is the choice one of her that bare her.
The daughters saw her, and blessed
her;  yea, the queens and the
concubines, and they praised her."

Song of Solomon 6:9

""The race is not to the swift,
Nor the battle to the strong,
Nor bread to the wise,
Nor riches to men of understanding,
Nor favour to men of skill;
But time and chance happen to them all.
For man also does not know his time:
Like fish taken in a cruel net,
Like birds caught in a snare,
So the sons of men are snared in an evil time,
When it falls suddenly upon them."
Ecclesiastes 9 11b-12

tHe tesTinG of JoB

'At this, Job got up and tore his robe
and shaved his head.
Then he fell to the ground in worship and said:

"Naked I came from my mother's womb,
and naked shall I depart.
The Lord gave and the Lord has taken away;
may the name of the Lord be praised."

'In all this,  Job did not sin by charging God with wrongdoing'
Job 1:20-22
