Christmas Greetings

T’was about two thousand and seventeen year back,
that a humble, Jewish child came forth in a shack.
His name was doth Jesus,
“God saves” his name means then.
This child being the Son of God!

He grew to be a radical leader,
“Love one another,”  said he.
Forgive your brother, not seven times
but  “until seventy times seven”  said He.

Jesus said to those who thought they
should stone woman caught in adultery,
“He that is without sin among you,
let him first cast a stone at her.”

Alas we are all sinners…
no-one did stone her,
and Jesus said,
Neither do I condemn thee:
go, and sin no more.”

Radical Jesus, Wonderful Saviour,
hated by high priests and authorities.
Tortured and beaten,
mocked and abused,
killed on a tree…killed on a tree you see…

Jesus was different.
Son of Most High,
gentle and humble...he died,
but rose up victorious,
death could not hold him …so glorious!

His Father’s plan was this cross for redemption.
Said this will atone for their sins to save them.
If they believe in this Son, I sent them.
The good news is this.
This is Christmas you see,
the birth of a Saviour to thee.

The TeRribLe TEapot

"Who is a God like unto thee,
that pardoneth iniquity,
and passeth by the transgression of the remnant
of his heritage?
He retaineth not His anger forever
because He delighteth in mercy.

He will turn again,
He will have compassion upon us;
He will subdue our iniquities;
and thou will cast all their sins into the depths of the sea".
Micah 7:18-19

"How doth the city sit solitary, that was full of people!
How is she become as a widow!
She that was great among the nations,
and princess among the provinces,
How is she become tributary!"
Lamentations 1:1

My father was born near Dublin. I visited Dublin about 35 years ago and loved that city.
As soon as I stepped onto the Irish soil I felt like I was coming home.
In 2011 I visited again....and much to my dismay I did not like Dublin at all...

However..... I did like the Art gallery,  the Nat Museum,   the National Library,
of course the Book of Kells...(from first visit)....our Hotel..Buswell's...near Parliament house where some of the pol's ventured in for lunch....the stunning Riverdance...and Cornupucia vegetarian restaurant and the lovely Wicklow mountains outside of the city...superb!
so I guess there IS much to still enjoy.

ThE CiTy not FoRsaKeN

"Behold, the Lord hath proclaimed
unto the end of the world,
Say ye to the daughter of Zion,
Behold, thy salvation cometh;
behold his reward is with him,
and his work before him.
And they shall call them,
The holy people, The redeemed
of the Lord: and thou shalt be
called, Sought out, A city not forsaken."

I Am Salmon

Job 41:1
"Canst thou draw out leviathan with an hook?
Or his tongue with a cord which thou lettest down."
"Freshwater creek doth giveth birth to me
a mere wee fish, salmon is me.
I am salmon, salmon of the acqua waters
born to seek , struggle and strive
up the waters to seek a dishy to fish to mate
Up to find my love to date.

Rivers of rushing streams race and sing
among the breeze.
Years of five go by,
I'm born to spawn and then to die.
Striving upstream, it's mean,
to race those rafters, some are pastors.

And swimming by I look up and see
crazy moonies bottoms high,
Doris waving goodbye goodbye,
and fly fishers raving and craving.

I see also blue and gold trains
with waitresses lovely to reign
and smart young men on microphones
and Chinese cooks outside to roam
and pesky passengers spilling drinks
driving lovely waitresses to the brink!

Under stars and moon and skies
I glide and drive
I pass the great frog statue
and meander neath many canoe.

What a life and joy to be a fish
in cool Bri-tish...Columbia,
to catch a fish and have a "rumbia"
and after kiss, to end in bliss.
Oh to be a Columbia fish."

NoT as SiLveR

Isaiah 48:10, 11
"Behold I have refined you,
but not as silver;
I have tested you in the furnace of affliction.
For My own sake, for My own sake,
I will do it;
For how should My name be profaned?
And I will not give My glory to another."

The Rebuilding of the Wall

"And I looked, and arose and said to the nobles,
to the leaders, and to the rest of the people,
"Do not be afraid of them.
Remember the Lord, great and awesome,
and fight for your brethren, your sons,
your daughters, your wives, and your houses."
Nehemiah 4:14

she no longer remembers the anguish, for the joy that a human being has been born into the world."

Psalm 84: 1

How lovely is your dwelling place,

LORD Almighty!
My soul yearns, even faints, for the courts of the LORD;
my heart and my flesh cry out for the living God.

Psalm 77:1-6
"I cried out to God with my voice-
To God with my voice;
And He gave ear to me.
In the day of my trouble I sought the Lord;
My hand was stretched out in the night without ceasing;
My soul refused to be comforted.
I remembered God, and was troubled;
I complained, and my spirit was overwhelmed.        Selah

You hold my eyelids open;
I am so troubled I cannot speak.
I have considered the days of old,
The years of ancient times.
I call to remembrance my song in the night;
I meditate within my heart,
And my spirit makes diligent search."

THE 9TH COMMANDMENT

"YoU shAll noT
bEar faLse wiTneSs
aGainSt yoUr neiGhboUr."

If you currently visit the National Gallery of Victoria
you will see in the European section an amazing picture of Moses
bringing down from the mountain, the tablets of the 10 Commandments,
a painting by John Rogers Herbert.

This massive, magnificent painting is the most expensive piece of artwork in the Gallery.
The female attendant informed me it was worth more than Picasso's "Weeping Woman".

THE 10TH COMMANDMENT

I thought I would try a modern version of the 10 Commandments...
I shall have to begin with the last, first, so  when I finally finish they
appear from 1-10 in order.

Young Soldier

The young soldier fights to defend his country...
fights to uphold democracy, freedom.....
yet society can sometimes rob itself from it's own freedoms.

Josephine Cafagna writes in The Age newspaper, March 29, 2015
"It mightn't be fashionable but I love looking stylish."
She concludes in her article...
"I want to look good because it makes me feel good.
If that makes me less of an intellect,
if that makes people think less of me,
if that means I'm frivolous,
then so be it."

Psalm 80:6
"Thou makest us a strife unto our neighbours:
and our enemies laugh among themselves."
